In his youth, Mark studied at the University of California Davis earning his B.S. in Civil Engineering. During his studies, Mark was working as a cellar and vineyard helper at S. Anderson Vineyards, one of California’s most respected sparkling-wine producers. He found that his skills in production and logistics of civil engineering translated well to the wine industry and decided to never leave. In 1983 Mark was promoted to assistant winemaker at S. Anderson Vineyards and remained there until 1989 when he joined Dr. Konstantin Frank Winery. Mark became Head Winemaker in 2004 and is currently on his 29th vintage with Dr. Frank.

Since that time, he has dedicated his free time to chasing the weightless feeling of powder skiing as often as possible while continuing to practice endodontics long enough to pay off the mortgage.
Jim Curtis, DMD
Jim retired at the end of December 2023 from a dental career that spanned two millennia. He spent the past 25 years in Columbia involved in the dental department and residency program at Prisma Health Richland. He has lectured widely over the years – locally, nationally, and internationally. Jim stays involved with dentistry through “chat & chew” with the residents, consulting, lecturing, and dental malpractice defense expert witness services. A former member of the Clemson Ski Team (YES, Clemson has a ski team), he proudly never finished a race! Nowadays, his motto is, “There is no shame in greens and blues!”
